When patients need a diagnosis of a
condition requiring a tissue sample we have the capability of
performing ultrasound directed needle biopsies in our office or
performing open breast biopsies in the operating rooms. Most
operations, including some cancer operations, are performed on an
outpatient basis at the Ambulatory Care Center. If a patient requires
hospitalization we are affiliated with The St. Barnabas Medical Center
in Livingston, New Jersey.
A typical visit includes the patient
completing a detailed medical history, a special confidentiality sheet
so that we do not reveal any information to unauthorized individuals,
and bringing any breast imaging studies and reports that have been
done to the office. A physician examines the patient. The breast
imaging studies are reviewed and then a full consultation in a
non-rushed atmosphere is conducted with ample time for questions. In
addition the patient is provided with written material related to the
condition under discussion. Relatives or friends are encouraged to
accompany a patient.
